Deep in the heart of Southern Humboldt County lies Barley Hill Farms, a multi generational, regenerative, boutique Cannabis farm. It was created and is run by father and daughter team Leib Ostrow and Iona Briefer on the land that she was born on, which has been in the family since 1976.
A child of the original back-to-the-land movement, during the time when Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP) and D.A.R.E were prevalent, Iona was “raised by a village” of environmental activists and hippies, who came to the rural hills of Humboldt as an act of rebellion from mainstream society with all of it’s conformations and laws. Considering her first interaction with Cannabis came while in utero (as her mother ran pregnant through the woods to flee the dreaded black hawk landing to take the year’s hard earned crop), growing marijuana is basically in her D.N.A!

There were no televisions in those backwoods, so entertainment was running wild through the hills, learning about the native flora and fauna that shared her space, and how to live in harmony with it. As she grew she learned she had to fight for those same plants and animals, attending rallies to protect the old growth redwood forests that surrounded her. With this upbringing Iona learned to appreciate the value of organic living and gardening practices from a very young age.
Throughout her life Iona has headed down many paths, including working to develop and launch organic and natural fertilizers and microbiological soil amendments, but, with each new life experience teaching her new ways to develop and improve her farming technique, all paths seemed to lead her back home to Barley Hill Farms.
With practices focused on feeding the soil, rather than the plant, Iona strives to bring you high quality flower as wildcrafted as her own heart and spirit.

Humboldt Confidential grown by Barley Hills Farm is an indica dominant strain that has been a product of twenty years of genetic selection. A cross between a Humboldt native Snow pea and LA Confidential. Humboldt Confidential produces dark green nugs with hues of violet that smell of cherry with hints of oak and a taste that is fruity and sweet.
